Distro - 127th Westminster Dog Show. 2003 

Bruce Gilden 

It is an annual ritual for dog lovers. Every year, more than 2500 dogs and their owners descend on Madison Square Garden for two days of primping and parading at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.

Except for the Kentucky Derby, the Westminster show is the oldest continuous sporting event in the United States. This year, the event attracted more than 400 reporters from nearly 20 countries, with the show reaching a television audience of 4 million.

Backstage, the scene is like that of a fashion show, where dogs of 159 breeds are shampooed, blown-dry, trimmed and pampered. The human owners...
