On Monday, February 17 the East Coast of the United States was hit by its worst snowstorm in nearly 10 years. From Washington to Boston, travelers were stranded and cities virtually shut down during the national President's Day holiday.

In New York City, Central Park was buried in 19.8 inches of snow with winds reaching 50 miles per hour. Alex Majoli photographed the city as residents tried to cope with the storm.
