Haute couture, the art of creating original clothing for individual clients, dates back to 1858 when Charles Frederic Worth opened the first house of high fashion that catered to the needs of wealthy women. Designers Valentino and Versace, among a handful of other fashion designers carry on the tradition of haute couture presenting their work four times a year at fall and spring shows. But the show is not only on the catwalk, the Haute Couture shows attract many celebrities and influential people creating a social event for many of the rich and famous.
