Distro - US Combat Activity in Iraq Ends

Tuesday, August 31, 2010 marks the end of the US military's combat mission in Iraq. US personnel have gradually been being moved out of the country with some going directly to take part in the mission in Afghanistan.
Approximately 50,000 US troops will remain in Iraq but will only function as support for the Iraqi government in the capacity of training personnel and advisers. The final US personnel should exit Iraq by the end of 2011.
