French theatre director Ariane Mnouchkine founded the now legendary Theatre du Soleil
in 1964.

The companies first production was the « Les Petits Bourgeois » by Gorki, performed at the Théatre Mouffetard in 1965.

This year , 2000 , the Theatre du Soleil are celebrating the 35th anniversary of their first performances through a series of events at the University of Sorbonne in Paris.
