Bangkok - Thailand's capital and tourist destination for millions before they spill into the coastal resorts nearby. One of these resorts 70 miles south of Bangkok is Pattaya, located on the Gulf of Thailand.

Pattaya is the beach resort most popular with foreign tourists. However, it is not without a reputation. Recently a British tourist died and his friend was seriously injured when they were shot in a bar, apparently after an argument over a woman. The local English language Pattaya mail Newspaper said that shootings are rare though knife attacks are more common.
