For the second time this century a total eclipse of the sun was experienced by a wave of enthusiasts across Europe from GB as far as Iran. At 11:11am on August 11 1999 the line of totality crossed the southern tip of England. Unfortunately, cloudy skies and rain broke a sunny week in the coastal holiday resorts in Cornwall on the morning of the eclipse.
