USA. NYC. Harlem, Million Youth March.
Leonard Freed
On Saturday, September 4, 1999, the second Million Youth March was held in Harlem. An estimated 2,000 people turned out to participate and hear the speakers, including attorney Malik Shabazz and former Nation of Islam spokesman Khallid Adbul Muhammad. The march was organized as a means of calling attention to the plight of black youth by civil right leaders. The rally was monitored by over 1,500 NYPD officers.
