RADIOHEAD are one of the new British bands that have been lumped together in media hype as 'Britpop'. However, they stand apart from the pack as being more musically sophisticated and independant than many of the other bands. Their second album, released in 1995, 'The Bends' was a big hit in Europe and the States as well as in Japan and Korea. It gave them the freedom and assurance to make their new album, 'Ok Computer'. This is more observational and less introspective than the first two albums, and contains some of their best work. This album will be released in the UK on 16th June.

The band have a very distinctive sound, somewhere between U2 and Pink Floyd, but such comparisons are often not helpful. Their greatest strength is the songwriting and voice of their lead singer Thom Yorke. It is one of the voices that others often get compared to. The rest of the group is musically strong and very tight.
