Rescue operation by Israel of black Ethiopian Jews or Falashas.
The Israeli organized air-lift has over past years permitted more than 10.000 Falashas to leave their drought stricken country via the Sudan and resettle in Israel. On arrival the Ethiopian immigrants are brought to the Askhelon transit center where they are clothed, cared for ans given Israeli citizenship.
