ISRAEL.West Bank, occupied territories. Spring 1988.
Micha Bar-Am
The march through Samaria is one of the popular Jewish rituals of Spring (passover), following the tradition of pilgrimages. The settlers in Judea and Samaria revived the custom in order to establish "presence" in these lands, and trecked through villages (Arab) provocatively for religious reasons, but sometimes ended in clashes with local Arab population.
