Pushkar fair, held annually at Pushkar, a town in the princely state of Rajasthan is one ofe the biggest cattle fairs held in India. Starting almost a fortnight before kartik (a month in the Hindu calendar), the fair emerges as a gathering of cattle, predominantly camel, wich are popularly described as the ship of the desert.
