From May to September, winds from the southwest bring heavy rains to most Asia and in winter, they reverse, carrying rains to Indonesia, Australia and areas with northeast coastlines. The lives and livelihoods of millions of people are dependent upon these rains which are so inextricably connected to agriculture, economy, and daily survival.
