While working on a project about school violence Eli Reed was invited by a Brooklyn principal to photograph at Thomas Jefferson High School. One day while visiting the school two students were shot and killed. Ironically, police officers were on the premises at the time preparing for a visit by Mayor David Dinkins. The shooter, also a student, was captured.
