Tulkus or reincarnated children.
Two to three years after the death of a Tulku a new emanation is found in the form of a baby. The child is found either by instructions left by the previous Lama or visions seen in dream form by other high Lamas. Tulkus are found by the age of three to four and introduced into a monastery by the age of six. Each Tulku has a tutor for their education. The children Tulkus are permitted infrequent visits with the other young monks of the monastery.
The title Rinpoche is the title given to Tulkus and very High Lamas. Rinpoche is the title and Tulku is the name. A tulku is an enlightened master who has chosen to reincarnate in form of a human.
Rinpoche means precious one.
