On September 29, 1999, 45 of New York's leading composers gathered at the Alexander Hamilton US Customs House for "A Great Day in New York", a group photo inspired by the Art Kane photograph of New York City's jazz legends in the 1950's. Philip Glass, Winston Marsailis, and John Zorn were among the participants. The photo will herald a week long series of concerts which will begin in January 2001 at Alice Tully Hall and the Elaine Kaufman Cultural Center.
