LEBANON. Hezbollah Martyrs. 2001.

Paolo Pellegrin

During the sixty years, in Beirut, Mohammed HUSSEIN FADLALLAH, a brilliant theologian, multiplies the charitable actions, founds schools and libraries for the Shiite Muslims. He also transmits the Ayatollah KHOMEINY words, who's exil in France. In 1979, the Khomeinist revolution is victorious, and the establishment of an Islamic Republic in Iran relieves the Shiite community, submitted to the Sunni Muslims supremacy until then. It's also a victory for FADLALLAH, whose associations get more important. His students enlist in the army in order to export the revolution. In 1983, the first two FADLALLAH martyrs attack the American and the French base camps in Beirut. On February 16th 1995, the official birth of the HEZBOLLAH is announced by a letter published in a Lebanese daily: the HEZBOLLAH aims are freeing Lebanon from the Israeli occupation, the establishment of an Islamic Republic in Lebanon, and to give Palestine back to Palestinian. In this intention, HEZBOLLAH practises suicide-attacks, hostage-takings, even of Christian Lebanese.
Literally, HEZBOLLAH means "the God side".
