Nice After the July 14th Attack

August 25, 2016
by Alessandra Sanguinetti
During the night of July 14th, Mohamed Lahouaiej-Bouhlel intentionally drove a cargo truck into crowds of people who were viewing Bastille Day fireworks from the Promenade des Anglais in Nice. The incident ended when the driver was shot and killed by police gunfire. Allegedly staged in support of ISIS, the attack resulted in 85 deaths and 300 injuries. This was the third major terror attack within France in 18 months.
Alessandra Sanguinetti arrived in Nice one day after the attack and found the city in shock. In addition to photographing the scene of the attack and street memorials, she engaged with residents, asking them to put their thoughts on paper.
