Correspondance New-Yorkaise

In July 1981, French newspaper Libération published a photo a day from New York by Raymond Depardon, accompanied by humorous, observational notes in the captions. It was a landmark achievement in Depardon's career, and an example of the rise of “new journalism,” which emphasized quotidian experiences and subjective, first-person perspectives.
Thirty-six years later, they revisited the project: over a ten day period, the photographer sent Libération a daily photograph of life on the streets of New York, made with an 8 x 10 view camera.
