The Bedouin people have largely abandoned their traditionally nomadic lifestyles in favor of more modern, permanent settlements. Most of Israel’s Bedouins live in urban areas though a substantial amount reside in small “unrecognized” villages scattered about the Negev Desert and Occupied Palestinian Territories. In an effort to confiscate non-Jewish land for the purpose of expanding Jewish settlements or planting forests, a number of these communities have been demolished by the authorities, sometimes repeatedly.
In 2016 Moises Saman documented displaced Bedouin for Süddeutsche Zeitung Magazin.
