FINDING YOUR VISION @ MIAMI STREET PHOTOGRAPHY FESTIVAL with Alex Webb and Rebecca Norris Webb

Do you know where you’re going next with your photography—or where it’s taking you? This intensive 5-day workshop will help photographers begin to understand their own distinct way of seeing the world, and help photographers take their work to the next level.
Open to both serious amateurs and professionals alike, it is a workshop that will emphasize the development of your own personal way of seeing by photographing the city in a direct, spontaneous way. This workshop will also be about learning how to edit your work intuitively, and how to push yourself out of your comfort zone. The workshop will take place during the Miami Street Photography Festival, which runs concurrently with Art Basel Miami Beach, Art Miami, and the other December art fairs in Miami.
The workshop will begin with Alex and Rebecca, a creative team who often edit projects together (including their recent joint books, Memory City and Alex Webb and Rebecca Norris Webb on Street Photography and the Poetic Image), who will critique each participant’s past work as a starting off point for a larger discussion about various photographic issues, including how to photograph in cultures other than your own and how long-term projects evolve into books and exhibitions. By that first afternoon, participants will be working on their first assignment, which they will choose themselves. It may be a specific street, neighborhood, subculture, ethnic group, profession, family or individual; it could be about night life in the city, the senior citizens of Miami, or some aspect of the tourism/leisure industry; it may be continuing work on an ongoing project in Miami; but it must be something that you're passionate enough to return to every day to photograph.
