Be Yourself: Master Class with Bruce Gilden
At the Barbican Centre
18-20 March 2016

NOW SOLD OUT

During this three day intensive photography workshop, Magnum photographer Bruce Gilden, will help students to define their own personal vision, sharing his own experience and the principles that have guided his career.

Bruce Gilden brings to his master class his unique style of street photography which has truly become his own over the past 40 years of working in New York City and other urban areas, both in the US and abroad. He will work with the students to teach them how to improve their pictures shot in the streets by best identifying their working “style” for street photography, and aiding them in gaining “street smart” sensibilities necessary to working in any environment- that ability to be in the middle of the scenario, but be unobtrusive.

Students will be set a pre-class assignment, and will then develop a personal assignment across the three days.

Held at the Barbican Centre, the workshop will co-incide with Strange and Familiar: Britain as Revealed by International Photographers, an exhibition curated by Martin Parr, featuring the work of Bruce Gilden. Students will also receive access to the exhibition and a guided tour.
