Around 75 000 demonstrators took to the street across France for a third straight weekend in the anti-Macron protests that initially started as anger about rising fuel taxes, in the so-called "Yellow vests" mouvement. On December 1st, serious clashes broke out around the Champs-Elysées avenue in Paris and at the symbolic Arc de Triomphe. At least 133 people have been injured, including 23 police officers and 287 people were arrested in the worst riots in Paris in more than a decade. Many cars were set on fire in the wealthy areas of Paris as well as shops that were looted. Magnum photographer Thomas Dworzak photographed the clashes while Cristina de Middel shot portraits and interviewed "Gilets jaunes" protestors, down the Champs-Elysées. At the same time, in his homebase region of Normandy, Jean Gaumy, kept on documenting a more peaceful protest at roadblocks.
