Iran-Iraq Earthquake

On the evening of November 12th a 7.3 magnitude earthquake struck the Iran-Iraq border region resulting in 7,500 injuries and at least 500 fatalities. It’s the deadliest earthquake of 2017. The damage was especially high near the epicenter in Iran’s western Kermanshah province. 70,000 people lost their homes and have had to seek alternate shelter as temperatures in this mountainous region have been dropping.
Newsha Tavakolian traveled to western Iran to document the aftermath of the quake.
