April 4th marks the 50th anniversary of the assassination of key American Civil Rights figure Martin Luther King, Jr.
He organized various peaceful marches for the advancement of civil rights, most notably the 1963 Washington march, where he gave his famous “I have a dream” speech.
His murder led to widespread rioting.
