The Italian government has voted to expel former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi from the Senate, following his conviction for tax fraud. The center-right leader will not be allowed to participate in general elections for six years.
A prominent figure in Italian politics for the past two decades, Berlusconi is now no longer immune from prosecution and could now be charged with other criminal offenses.
