by London Office
Magnum Photos, Oxfam and IdeasTap are partnering to offer three emerging female photographers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to complete a commission for Oxfam’s spring fundraising campaign.
In autumn 2013, Oxfam will commission three of Magnum's female photographers to document projects in Armenia, Chad and Sri Lanka. Three IdeasTap winners will join Oxfam project managers and the Magnum photographer on the commission, helping Oxfam to tell the stories of women living in poverty worldwide.
Each winning IdeasTap member will be paid a commission fee of £1000, to follow the commission brief and produce a set of 100 images. Each commission will be accompanied by an on-site mentoring session by one of the Magnum photographers.
The images will be used by Oxfam in their fundraising communications in Spring 2014 and beyond, with potential for an exhibition alongside the work of the Magnum commissions.
This opportunity will provide young female photographers with a unique insight into the workings of an international NGO, and provide a connection to industry relationships. Winners will develop confidence and experience in relation to professional standards and practice, as well as producing a meaningful body of work that will raise awareness of global issues.
