So long a battleground, war-damaged Mogadishu is now in peace. Warloards no longer control the flow of food and goods and commerce is increasingly regular.
Elsewhere in the country, the transitional government's military, with the support of African Union forces, battle al-Qaeda's Somali cell, the Al-Shabaab.
