February 7, 2013
by Alessandra Sanguinetti
When: April 1st-5th 2013
Where: Sanguinetti Studio SF
Photographing people, visually translating your vision of someone requires much skill and practice. This workshop is aimed at refining the necessary technical and conceptual tools necessary to achieve striking portraits. The only way to do this is by immersing yourself in the process, taking risks and WORK. We will go over the entire portrait process: subject research, initiating contact, approaching strangers, lighting, framing, and the technical choices that determine the look and feel of the final image. This will be a hands on workshop with field trips, individual assignments, daily group, and one on one discussions and editing sessions.
Info and requirements:
The workshop is open to 7 students of all backgrounds and interests who will need to submit 10 sample images* of their own work, together with a brief letter of introduction.
Participants will be expected to bring their own digital camera and laptop with basic editing software. You may use film, but you will have to be responsible for processing and scanning, which may not be a fast enough turn around to meet daily requirements. Work prints, two final prints, reading material (and drinks and snacks..) are included. Lodging, food, and equipment are not provided.
Our digital tech will be available on Sunday the 31st for an optional one day introduction to Lightroom and to answer any other questions you may have for an additional $150.
