Get insights about the industry from a Magnum photographer and professionals.

Magnum Photos and and Tbilisi Photography Festival are proud to present the first in a series of professional practice workshops taking place in Tbilisi, Georgia, during the opening weekend of the festival.

Join us for a two-day masterclass aimed at enhancing and defining your documentary style and practice. If you’re an aspiring or professional photographer wanting to learn the mechanisms behind editorial commissions, the art market, gain insights on how to publish a photobook and make connections with other photographers, then this workshop is for you.

This weekend will be led by Jérôme Sessini (Magnum photographer), Jeroen Kummer (Co-founder and Creative Director of Kummer & Herrman), Katarzyna Sagatowska (Curator, photographer, and lecturer) and Sonia Jeunet (Education Manager and producer, Magnum Photos).

This event offers participants the chance to learn from Magnum photographers as well as a diverse mix of industry leaders. The workshop will focus on demystifying the industry, establishing a professional network of contacts, understanding the requirements of the market and identifying realistic routes into photographic employment. This unique programme offers highly valuable training opportunities for early & mid-career photographers.

The first day will consist of lectures as the speakers present their career experience to date, give behind the scenes tips and impart practical advice on how to work and succeed in their area of expertise. A second day of portfolio reviews with speakers will provide photographers with an honest and constructive critique of existing work.

Taking place during the opening week of Tbilisi Photo Festival, the workshop will also be the opportunity to take part in the festival events, offering further networking opportunities.

This workshop offers:
