On 22 February 2022 the Russian army invaded Ukraine. Two years later, Sabiha Çimen travelled to Ukraine, to the cities of Kyiv, Lviv, Mykolaiv and Odesa, to gauge how cultural institutions continue to survive in times of war. 


The photographer met Ukrainian artists who have seen their workplaces turned upside down by the conflict. Notably Pavlo Aldoshyn, a Ukrainian actor who, after the launch of the Russian invasion, joined the Ukrainian armed forces where he became a sniper.
