With this exhibition the Magnum Gallery explores the genre of portraiture photography since the 30s and up to the present day. If what unites all these photographers is with out doubt the humanism, each work reflects an emotion and personal approach.
In the mid 30s, Philippe Halsman , «the great portraitist», turns his back to the conventions of the past, with an ambition to express the individual emotions of his subject, in doing so he redefines a new approach, ‘pyschological portraiture’.
