On the 28th of November 2020, demonstrations took place across France against the proposed global security law despite the second wave of confinement due to COVID-19. The law planned to be introduced by President E. Macron and Interior Minister G. Darmanin includes a controversial measure to restrict the filming, photographing and publishing of pictures of identifiable police officers. The protests take place a week after the the violent dismantling of a migrant camp on the place de la République and the publication of a video of a black producer being beaten by police officers.
