September 1998, just three weeks after admitting his affair with Monica Lewinski, President Bill Clinton took time out from his celebratory trip to Ireland for the Good Friday Agreement he had helped to broker, to tee off on the Ballybunion Golf Course. Unbeknownst to the President was the time and effort this small West Coast County Kerry town of 1,500 had expended, firstly to lure him there and secondly to give him a welcome he would never forget. After painting the streets with the Stars and Stripes, erecting a bronze statue in honour of the American President and even renaming shops and pubs...
