Feature - Azerbaijan's Talysh People
The Talysh community is an ethnic group that has traditionally lived along the border with Iran, and whose native language is Talysh language, which is more similar to Persian than to Azeri. Talysh are culturally close to the Azeris but concentrated in southern Azerbaijan near Caspian Sea and areas contiguous with Iran. Like Azeris, they are predominantly Shi’a Muslims and maintain strong ties with Iran.
