Feature - Bedouin Displacement in the Negev
The Bedouin people have largely abandoned their traditionally nomadic lifestyles in favor of more modern, permanent settlements. Most of Israel’s Bedouins live in urban areas though a substantial amount reside in small “unrecognized” villages scattered about the Negev Desert and Occupied Palestinian Territories. In an effort to confiscate non-Jewish land for the purpose of expanding Jewish settlements or planting forests, a number of these communities have been demolished by the authorities, sometimes repeatedly.
