Feature - Antarctic Climate Change From Above
Though far from the human activities responsible for global warming, Antarctica has been significantly effected by climate change. Warming oceans are melting the ice which covers 98% of the continent, resulting in rising sea levels.
NASA has long used satellites to monitor climate change but since 2009 it’s IceBridge program has used specially equipped aircraft for conducting detailed surveys. In some cases these planes may get as low as 100 feet from surface level.
