July 11th, 2020 marks 25 years since the Srebrenica Massacre which occurred during the 1992-1995 Bosnian War.
Though the town had been declared as a safe area by the United Nations in 1993, a small UN peace-keeping force was unable to prevent units from the Army of Republika Srpska (VRS) and Serbia from entering the area and massacring more than 8,000 Bosniak men and boys.
