Martin Parr 

This set of pictures, shot in seven European countries, explores the idea of cultural and national identity. The pictures dwell on the cliches commonly associated with them, dealing with subjects as diverse as food and clothing. The resulting montage of details from each country fulfils and challenges our stereotypical impressions because Parr's view of the ordinary is not often a comfortable one.

Given the current debate about Europe, the Single Currency and the erosion of national identity, Parr's new work could not be more timely.
