On August 24th 1999 , the world will celebrate the 100 anniversary of the birth of Argentinian poet Jorge Luis Borges.

Borges is one of the most significant intellectuals of our century. Magnum photographer Ferdinando SCIANNA, who had a close relationship with Sicilian writer Leonardo Sciascia, travelled through Sicily with Borges in 1984, shooting a series of , now classical,portraits.
