In 1986 Lenin is at war with Mohammad. Rather than covering the mujahidin I travel in soviet-occupied Afghanistan : extremist mullahs having turned my country, Iran, into a fanatical islamic republic, I have no reason to join the western press in glorifying islamists, be they freedom fighters. Afghan communists who are copying the soviet model are also nationalists, eager to modernise their country. But with their mentor, the USSR, bombing civilians and occupying their country, Afghan nationalists...
