LEBANON. Beirut. Civil war. 1978.
The fighting takes place in the heart of the City between the Islamic progressists and Christian Conservative militia - a "no-mansland" where nobody respects the Cease Fire agreements. Each day snipers terrorise the neighborhoods from their shellwrecked apartment buildings and sandbags barricades, armed with Soviet made automatic weapons. In relays teams the Phalangist volunteers of the Kaeteb army of Pierre GEMAYEL, came each day to man the barricades and fire against the Syrian troops who were about 100 meters away in their dugouts. The trenches have been replaced by the empty corridors and towers of apartment buildings, completely destroyed streets where snipers shoot at anyone trying to cross from East to West and vice-versa.
