Magnum Photos and the Joseph Haydn Stiftung Basel are delighted to announce the launching of a 5-year project.
Twice a year, a Magnum photographer will benefit from a Carte Blanche on a specific topic. He will produce 10 images, based on a selection of symphonies composed by Joseph Haydn. This collaboration will be documented by an exclusive CD and book collection, published by the Joseph Haydn Stiftung Basel. The collection is part of Haydn2032, a long-term music project that foresees the recording and performance of all 107 symphonies by Haydn until the composer’s 300th anniversary in 2032.
The adventure begins with photographer Gueorgui Pinkhassov’s interpretation of the theme “La Passione”. He has created a photo series accompanying the first Haydn2032 music album La Passione, recorded by Italian ensemble Il Giardino Armonico under the artistic direction of Giovanni Antonini.
The photos will be part of the next concert series, including performances in Zurich (7 November), Eisenstadt (8 November) and Basel (9 November). The collection is available from 20th October on www.haydn2032.
