Claude Lanzmann: 1925-2018

French film director Claude Lanzmann died on July 5, 2018 aged 92. Filmmaker, writer, journalist and philosopher, Claude Lanzmann will notably be remembered for directing Shoah, an epic documentary film almost ten hours long featuring the testimonies of Holocaust survivors. Lanzmann lived with Sartre’s longtime companion Simone de Beauvoir from 1952-1959 and was chief editor of Les Temps Modernes from 1986, which had been founded by Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir. His last film 'Les Quatre Soeurs' had been just released.
