Bruno Barbey : Back to Burma

October 17, 2013
Buddhism has a special place in Myanmar as the vast majority of its citizens are adherents. This year, photographer Bruno Barbey made a return visit to the country to document the impact of religion on the inhabitants’ lives.

"In 1977 I spent one month in Burma taking photographs in a country at that time close to foreigners. 36 years later, in 2013, I went back to Burma, now called ‘Myanmar’, to work on the project ‘7 days in Myanmar’, for Editions Didier Millet, a project focused on the Buddhism. Today, the faith of Burmese society has become embedded in their culture".
