MAGNUM PHOTOS 67th ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
NEW YORK, JUNE 26-29, 2014

Since its inception, Magnum Photos has been holding an Annual General Meeting in either New York, London or Paris. The AGM brings together Magnum photographers, photographer estates and the agency’s international staff to discuss company business and vote on potential new members, associates and nominees.

This year’s AGM took place in New York City. The first day of proceedings was held at the International Center of Photography, and festivities kicked off with the opening reception for the MAGNUM Contact Sheets exhibition at MILK Gallery. The final three days of proceedings were held at NeueHouse. Magnum would like to thank these generous partners.

This year’s Annual General Meeting also marked a leadership transition at Magnum. Martin Parr, who was serving as interim President since December 2013, was unanimously elected President of Magnum Photos International for a full term.

Giorgio Psacharopulo stepped down as Chief Executive Officer, having reached the end of this term. Magnum and its photographers would like to express their gratitude to Giorgio for his contribution over the past three years. Under Giorgio’s direction, Magnum improved its management processes and financial performance, and is better positioned to undertake the challenges of a rapidly changing environment. Magnum wishes Giorgio all the success that he deserves in his future endeavors.

Magnum is very pleased to announce the appointment of David Kogan as Executive Director, effective July 1, 2014. David brings many years of experience in the worlds of business and media to the collective. Prior to joining Magnum, David worked as a journalist in newspapers and radio, and later went on to become Global Managing Director of Reuters Television. David has been asked to build on and expand Magnum’s brand, further integrate the agency as a global organization, and formulate a long-term strategy for its future as Magnum prepares to celebrate its 70th anniversary in 2017.

Magnum Photos would like to express great gratitude and thanks to Filson, the official sponsor of this year’s Annual General Meeting. Coming off the Magnum + Filson collaboration, Filson played an integral role in making this year’s AGM a truly special one.

Finally, a note from Magnum President, Martin Parr:

“This is an exciting time for Magnum. We have consolidated and increased our photographer base with a very talented group of people coming from diverse photographic and cultural backgrounds. We have launched several initiatives to engage further with the worlds of digital and social media, while at the same time strengthening our relationship with our estates. Finally, we have managed a leadership transition. Giorgio Psacharopulo arrived at Magnum in a difficult time and, through his efforts and dedication, put us on the right path. I am confident that David Kogan’s experience as a successful media executive and entrepreneur, and his sensitivity as an important collector of photographs, brings the right mix of competence and vision to open this new chapter of Magnum’s history.”
