Magnum Workshop Delhi

July 18, 2013
by Magnum Photographers
Magnum Photos are delighted to announce it’s first workshop in India, in the vibrant city of Delhi, to be held in conjunction with the Delhi Photo Festival in September 2013. The Magnum Workshop will be led by Magnum photographers Abbas and Raghu Rai and held at the India Habitat Centre, the festival hub.

<strong>AIMS</strong>
Magnum’s workshops are aimed at photographers interested in narrative and storytelling, who are looking to take the next logical step in their photographic development. The workshop environment is intended to be an organic experience and Magnum’s photographer mentors will support participants where best; from sharpening a visual signature or developing editing skills.

<strong>FORMAT</strong>
Each participant will be assigned to either Raghu Rai or Abbas for the duration of the workshop, with informal time available to cross over.

Over 4 days, participants will divide their time between shooting new work, critiquing their photographs with their Magnum mentors and peers and creating an edit to be shown in the culminating workshop projection. This projection will form an official part of the Delhi Photo Festival program and will be seen by both industry professionals and members of the public, on 2nd October. Abbas will also present an overview of his substantial photographic career as part of the festival presentations.

After the workshop, participants will be invited to submit an edit of photographs for inclusion in a group book, supported by Magnum’s workshop partners Blurb. Each participant will be given a copy of this book as a lasting legacy of the workshop experience.
