Fracking in the UK

Drilling companies suggest trillions of cubic feet of shale gas may be recoverable from underneath parts of England, through a process known as "fracking". Stuart Franklin has been photographing protesters as well as local residents in Balcombe, Sussex, a usually quiet part of the country that has found itself at the center of a global environmental story. Franklin has documented both those for and against the process and how the controversial plans have impacted rural life.
