Alice Myers (26) and Marco Kesseler (23) have been announced as the overall winners of the third annual IdeasTap Photographic Award, in association with Magnum Photos.
The IdeasTap Photographic Award is the ultimate photography competition for emerging photographers – offering winners £5,000 in prize money, £1,500 project funding, mentoring from Magnum photographers and the chance to work at Magnum’s offices in London or New York.

The final stage of the Award was judged by Fiona Rogers (Magnum Cultural & Education Manager), David Hurn (Magnum Photographer), Olivier Laurent (British Journal of Photography), previous Photographic Award winner Maria Gruzdeva and Adrian Mott (LCC lecturer and IdeasTap Photography Consultant).

The winners were announced at a reception at Magnum Print Room, London, on 10 April 2013. Both photographers will receive a £5,000 cash prize in addition to paid internships with Magnum Photos; Marco in the London office and Alice with the Magnum team in New York. Alice will also work with a Magnum in Motion consultant to create a revised multimedia piece.

Alice's winning multimedia essay, 'Waits For No Man', focuses the French port of Calais and the many people without documents who attempt to cross over the border to England. Marco's winning project, 'Belarus: An Uncertain Winter', explores life behind closed doors in post-Communist Belarus.

Fiona Rogers, Magnum's Cultural & Education Manager said:
“The quality of submissions to the IdeasTap Photographic Award improves year on year, and subsequently it’s always a tough decision. We were impressed with the commitment and integrity that Alice and Marco showed to their practice, and we are confident they will use this opportunity to further their careers and photographic development”

The night also saw the launch of the 2013 IdeasTap Photographic Award. Previous Awards have had two age categories, 16 to 22 and 23 to 30. A third category for photographers aged 31 and over has been introduced this year.
