New Member: Olivia Arthur

Olivia Arthur, voted in as a Magnum nominee in 2008, was made a full member at last week's Annual General Meeting.

Olivia was born in London, and has been photographing professionally since 2003. After earning a degree in mathematics at Oxford University and diploma in photojournalism at the London College of Printing, she began her photography career in Delhi, where she lived for over two years. After, she moved to Italy, she started a project focusing on women in the East-West cultural divide, which has taken her all over the globe. Arthur’s work has been displayed in New York, Madrid, Paris, Milan, Germany, Switzerland, the UK and more, and her awards include the Vic Odden Award from the Royal Photographic Society, the Laureate Photographe, the OjodePez-PhotoEspana Award, the National Media Museum Award, the Inge Morath Award, and the Joop Swart Masterclass. In 2012, she published her first book, Jeddah Diary, about women in Saudi Arabia. In 2010, Arthur cofounded a photography space, Fishbar, in London.

Magnum is thrilled to have her join the collective.
